It’s been awhile since i’ve updated my site, So I’m going to try to take the time once a week to update my site with all my work I’ve been doing over the last year.
This logo design is something I did for a friend of a friend. He’s trying to start up this Southern Style Barbeque Catering Service that caters for parties or functions. Brian has this huge smoker that he made out of a big oil barrel that he clean out and turned into a smoker that is mounted on his truck, so he can go where ever the event is. For over two years now, I’ve been doing caricatures all over Massachusetts. I’ve done them at corporate functions, school events, birthday parties, and festivals. It’s something that I’ve always enjoyed doing. I’ve learned that drawing a good caricature is a lot different than just being really good at illustrator. Especially when you have a line of 20 people waiting to have their picture drawn. The trick is to capture the person’s most pronounced features and finish the drawing in about 8 minutes or less for black & white and 15 minutes for color.
“You’re your own worst critic.”
It’s true. Sure, over the years I’ve drawn my own likeness, but I’ve never done a caricature of myself that I was 100% happy with. So finally, the other day I sat down with my pencils, pad, erasers and whipped up a sketch of myself. From there I scanned it and touched it up in Photoshop. Then I brought it into Illustrator to give it a cleaner look.
I’ve decided I’m going to start doing more of this style caricature illustrations of my friends and family. So make sure you stop by my site frequently to check for new illustrations.
